At the beginning of the school year I was a little apprehensive about going to Ladywood. I had been set on going to a different high school, but decided not to attend because it's location was inconvenient for my family. I then decided to attend Ladywood. (Spoiler Alert: It was one of the best decisions I have ever made.)
I started off my school year by playing field hockey for Ladywood. I had a blast. When the first day of school rolled around, I was very nervous about making new friends, but I immediately found people who I knew would become great friends. I was also nervous about the curriculum being too tough for me. Even though it sometimes is tough, the wonderful teachers are always willing to go the extra mile to help me succeed in their class.
You can never be bored at Ladywood with the seemingly endless number of clubs available to join. I am currently in French club and the Student Ambassador program. New clubs are added all the time, so the list is always growing. If there's a club that you want to join that Ladywood doesn't offer, feel free to start it yourself. Just this year we added Chinese club, Chess club, and Outreach from America club.
Faith is a large part of our focus here at Ladywood. Monthly all-school masses, weekly Adoration, all-school service days and Reconciliation several times throughout the year are just some of the ways Ladywood lives up to its standards as a Catholic school.
So, why do I love Ladywood? I love the sense of community I have with my classmates - I know everyone in my freshman class. I also love that we have fun and are allowed to be silly. Heck! We had an ugly selfie contest. I love that I feel successful and that I am successful. I got great grades, I worked hard for them, and I did it!
Ladywood allows me to the best me I can be.
